Julia Neuenhausen
Biography

Julia Neuenhausen was born in Braunschweig, Germany. She studied painting, film and performance at the Academy of fine Arts, HBK-Braunschweig and later attended San Francisco State University in the United States.

Neuenhausen's work uses a variety of mediums including performance, street art, installation, objects, photography, drawings and collages and is based on the exploration of the semiotics of everyday life. Her aim is to discover and illustrate dynamic patterns of social syndromes and psycho-landscapes.  Neuenhausen has travelled and worked in several countries, including Indonesia, India and Zambia, studying the nature of patterns, the signs, the systems in each and conducting experimental workshops in field research.  In 2007, Neuenhausen travelled to Iran for her “pattern research-project” to examine the language of patterns and to create, new iconology of today's pattern with a group of Iranian women.

Neuenhausen's work has been exhibited throughout her homeland and beyond. Exhibitions include: the Artist Symposium, Association of German Artists e.V, Buch, Berlin; the international Jakarta  Biennale, Indonesia; the international Biennale Kochi, India and Henry Tayali Visual Arts Center, Zambia.

For 25 years, the artist has also worked in schools, on public art-projects, and in the penal and healthcare systems.

Neuenhausen is currently focusing on creating programs and concepts for “integral-experimental-artistic-groups.” She lives and works in Berlin Germany.
