Peter Halves was born in Hameln, Germany in 1963. Educated at the University of Arts in Braunschweig, Germany, Halves received a diploma in 1990 and master’s degree in 1992.
He has exhibited his work since 1989. They include paintings, collages and decollages and installations with Judith Ganz.
Halves collages depict the visible forces of violence in connection with the invisible forces of the markets, dipped into shrill and toxic colors and unreal panoramas, with protagonists who play their predetermined roles.
Among his exhibitions are: "Victory of pure Beauty," paintings, installation, Gallery K8, Braunschweig; "Is there a 16" Monitor for Everybody? We say yes!," an installation with Judith Ganz at Gallery Fisch, Braunschweig; "Ornament and Crime," objects, Gallery Kornbrennerei, Hannover; "Traffic Highlights," with Christoph Bartolosch, Foro Artistico, Hannover; "Plastic Surgery Disasters," an installation with Judith Ganz, Kunstverein Holzminden; "Minnis," Projektraum Neuenhausen, Berlin; "Multiple Manipulations," Halle Zehn, Cologne; "Big Size and Big Sound," Halle Zehn, Cologne; "Shareholder Value," Kunstraum Quartier am Hafen, Cologne; and "People,Textures, Environments,” the inaugural exhibition of Thru Contemporary Arts, Cologne.
Halves is also a musician, performing as a drummer with musicians from Africa, Turkey, USA, Europe and the Caribbean.
